Three-star wide reciever Dveyoun Bonwell-Witte has been committed to Nebraska football since October, but it’s starting to feel like he won’t be part of the Cornhuskers’ 2026 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound wideout out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is ranked No. 573 overall according to the On3 Industry rankings. Garret McGuire was his primary recruiter, but there hasn’t been much happening with the Nebraska football commitment since McGuire left.

Nebraska football fans will notice that Dayton Raiola and CJ Bronaugh, the other commitments for the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the 2026 class, have each scheduled an official visit. There hasn’t been a peep about Bonwell-Witte.

Nebraska football coaches didn’t make a trip to go see him, and according to Sean Callahan of Husker Online, there hasn’t been any communication since McGuire left. It doesn’t take a genius to realize this is likely headed for a decommitment.

The wide receiver board changed completely when Dana Holgorsen took over as the offensive coordinator, and this recruitment will be a reflection of that.

In other Nebraska football recruiting news, three-star offensive lineman Moses Sparks, who the Huskers view as a swing tackle, will be taking an official visit this summer, according to Husker Online. He’s ranked No. 900 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Donovan Raiola visited him at his school back in January. Utah, Arizona State, and Texas Tech are some of the other power-4 offers.

Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball/softball roundup

The Nebraska baseball team notched a 6-2 win on Sunday over Washington in the third game of the opening Big Ten series after dropping two on Saturday.

Jackson Brockett got the start and was solid in 4.2 innings, allowing zero runs on five hits with four strikeouts. Drew Christo allowed just one run in three innings of work to get the win. He struck out six but surrendered just the one run.

Case Sanderson and Rhett Stokes sparked the offense with two hits each. Sanderson brought home a run in the second with an RBI single before doubling home Stokes in the eighth. Dylan Carey and freshman Devin Nunez each belted home runs in the win for the Huskers (5-8, 1-2).

The Nebraska baseball team will host Wichita State on Tuesday at 6 PM CST.

On the softball diamond, Nebraska dominated the “Big Red Spring Fling” with three run-rule victories — two over Northern Iowa and another over Northern Colorado.

Nebraska softball needed extra innings to beat South Dakota State but notched the 5-4 win. Jordy Bahl earned the complete-game victory, which was her second of the weekend. She also had a home run in the win, in addition to blasting a home run in her first career at-bat as a Nebraska Cornhusker in Bowlin Stadium.

Hannah Camenzind also had a nice weekend, earning a complete-game win on the mound Sunday, in addition to six RBI and four doubles. Nebraska softball beat Northern Iowa twice (9-1, 8-1) as well as Northern Colorado 12-4 on Saturday, before the 5-4 win on Sunday night.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers (19-6) open Big Ten play on Friday against Ohio State on the road.
