It might seem like it’s still early in the 2027 recruiting class, but in the recruitment of 2027 QB Trae Taylor, it’s crunch time for Nebraska football and all the other contenders.

That’s because Taylor, who is ranked as the No. 109 prospect in the 2027 class according to the On3 Industry rankings, is expected to announce his commitment on June 6th.

That is also what made Taylor’s visit to the Nebraska football program this week so important. It will be his final stop in Lincoln before making a decision, at least if he sticks to his current timeline, and according to what he posted on X, it was a great visit.

“It’s been great@HuskerFootball… great few days in Lincoln. Ton to think about … give a follow Nebraska to follow my decision.”

As far as the Huskers are concerned, it seems like they put their best foot forward.

The visit “opened” the eyes of Trae Taylor to Nebraska football

Taylor had a lot of good things to say about his visit to Nebraska, but told Tim Verghese of Rivals that a conversation with Dylan Raiola opened his eyes.

“The conversations I had, especially with Dylan…opened my eyes to a few things,” Taylor said.

Adam Gorney, the lead recruiting expert for Rivals, quoted the post on X from Verghese and said, “Nebraska does look strong here,” in reference to Taylor, the 6-foot-3, 195-pound quarterback from Illinois.

Taylor has visited Illinois, Notre Dame, Michigan, and LSU recently. He also has visits scheduled to Texas A&M and Auburn. Taylor said he would be done after that, which means decision time.

Keith Williams, the Nebraska football director of player personnel, who is heavily involved in recruiting, will tease commitments on X and posted a GIF of Dylan Raiola on Friday, right after Taylor’s two-day visit.

I don’t know is that’s alluding to a commitment, but at the very least, the two-day visit went really well for Nebraska football, about as well as it could.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all to learn Nebraska was in the lead or even landed a silent commitment. We’ll see if it can close, but Husker fans have reason to feel good about where Nebraska sits with Taylor.
