It seems like Nebraska football is getting more and more five-star prospects on campus. Another, Douglas Utu, will actually come back to Lincoln.

Utu, who is ranked 63rd overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings for the 2025 class, but is a five-star recruit according to ESPN and Rivals, announced on his Twitter account that he will take an official visit to Nebraska football this week.

Nebraska football trending up with five-star offensive tackle

The 6-foot-5, 300-pounder out of Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, is fresh off an official visit to Michigan. He’s also set to take an official visit to Alabama later this month. He’s ranked 53rd overall according to the On3 Industry rankings, but he’s a top target of the Huskers regardless.

Nebraska has been working to add more elite talent at the offensive tackle position. They hosted five-star David Sanders for an official visit recently, but it seems like some other programs have grabbed the momentum back in that recruitment.

It was hard to gauge where things stood with Utu. His mom said that Michigan “set the bar high” on his official visit to Ann Arbor over the weekend, which he took with five-star wideout and teammate Derek Meadows. Michigan also has a former teammate from Bishop Gorman on the roster.

However, Utu seemed to really like his first visit this spring to Lincoln. Nebraska also added a player from Bishop Gorman in the 2024 class, on the offensive line, so they have ties to the program too.

According to his On3 profile, the official visit to Nebraska starts today. Utu has also visited Washington, Michigan, and will visit Alabama, but the Huskers are the current leader according to the On3 prediction machine which gives them a 26.9 percent chance to win his commitment.
