Chase Loftin recently said he wanted to decide soon and the Nebraska football recruit later clarified that he would decide in the next couple of weeks.

That was just ahead of his official visit to Nebraska football this weekend. Loftin is a 6-foot-6, 215-pound tight end out of Omaha. He’s ranked No. 375 overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings for the 2025 class. He’s also ranked second among recruits in the state of Nebraska behind Christian Jones.

Jones is the other big in-state fish still on the board. There have been some positive trends with him but also talk of a fall official visit to Wisconsin. Loftin has talked about an earlier decision and that’s why this is a critical chance for Nebraska to close after Loftin visited Missouri, Kansas State, Texas A&M, and Florida State.

Well, according to Derek Young of On3.com, the Huskers are the leader for Loftin as Young put in an expert projection with a confidence of 50/100 for Loftin to commit to Nebraska football on Friday night.

That’s the only expert projection from On3 and there aren’t any crystal ball projections from 247 Sports either. However, the On3 prediction machine now favors Nebraska and gives the Huskers a 76-percent chance to land the commitment of the in-state tight end.

The confidence level shows some uncertainty. It’s certainly not a full-on trend at this point, but it’s good news especially with Loftin on campus in Lincoln this weekend.

Maybe the Huskers can close on his official visit just like they did with Carter Nelson in 2024. How sweet would that be?
