Nebraska football fans love road-grading offensive linemen, which is one way to describe the newest commitment of the Cornhuskers, Rex Waterman.

Watching the film of the 6-foot-5, 295-pound tackle from Hamilton, Arizona, you see a dude who feels like a perfect fit for Nebraska football.

Waterman is listed as an offensive tackle. He looks like a right tackle to me, possibly even a guard. Either way, after his official visit over the weekend, the three-star 2026 recruit committed to Nebraska football on Tuesday over the likes of Duke, UCLA, Boise State, Arizona, and Arizona State, among others.

Why Nebraska football fans will love the latest O-line commitment

Waterman has played exclusively left tackle in high school. He’s got good feet, maybe good enough to be a college left tackle. However, he reminds me of Gibson Pyle, a guy who played tackle during high school but is better off playing guard in college.

The one thing Nebraska football fans will love about him is the physicality. Waterman is a good drive blocker who excels at finishing (Pancakes, anyone?).

Honestly, Waterman looks like someone who just wants to hit people. There is one play where he didn’t end up with an assignment, but still sought out someone to hit/block and got him to the ground.

You often see the guy Waterman is blocking end up on his back. That doesn’t mean he will be a good enough pass protector to play on the blindside.

But move a guy like that inside, and Nebraska football could really have something. Position versatility is a key trait for offensive linemen and allows a team to play the five best players. Waterman has the chance to develop into a starter at multiple spots.

He’s ranked 1,303 overall. However, Waterman has starter potential, which makes this a solid commitment for the Huskers and one that fans will love when he eventually finds the field.
