Nebraska football fans might have mixed feelings about the Huskers’ 4-1 start to the 2025 season. Some are acting as though the sky is falling after the 38-27 win over Michigan State.

Regardless of how things have looked, Nebraska has won four of five games. The Huskers have all of their goals ahead of them, in the conference and overall.

The schedule feels even more manageable after Penn State lost to UCLA. Nebraska football can win every game on the schedule. The Huskers will need better play from the offensive line. They also can’t allow 12 sacks in two games.

Still, Nebraska is winning games. This is the second consecutive 4-1 start. Another strong opponent awaits this week as the Huskers will travel to 4-1 Maryland (2:30 CST, BTN). The Terps blew a 20-point lead against Washington last Saturday.

Malik Washington is a dynamic freshman quarterback. Maryland is also an underrated team, talent-wise. Mike Locksley has recruited the DMV well. Maryland also won the last matchup. It will be another test to see if Nebraska has really improved under Rhule.

Vegas likes Nebraska football in this matchup. The Huskers are a 6.5-point favorite.

Nebraska fooball bowl projections after Week 6

ESPN is projecting Nebraska to play in the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 31. CBS also has the Huskers headed to Vegas to take on Arizona State. ESPN has the opponent being Cal or Utah.

Sports Illustrated has Nebraska playing LSU in the Citrus Bowl. That would be a huge step up for the program from the Pinstripe Bowl. It would also mean the Huskers probably won nine games during the regular season. Athlon also has an SEC opponent facing the Huskers in the Music City Bowl (Florida).
