Nebraska football aiming to flip elite EDGE prospect from Michigan

After a strong start to the 2025 season, Nebraska football is aiming for some flips in the 2026 recruiting class.

Nebraska football has just 12 commitments in the 2026 recruiting class, and with just a few months to go before Early National Signing Day, the Huskers are doing what they can to address that.

For a number of reasons, the 2026 class hasn’t met expectations. It was always going to be a smaller recruiting class, but Nebraska ranks 74th in the 247 Sports team rankings with just 12 commitments. What’s even worse is that only three of them (25 percent) are blue-chip prospects.

Nebraska football aims for a blue-chip EDGE committed to Michigan

Nebraska needs more blue-chip talent (four or five-star recruits). That’s especially true along the defensive line. Terry Bradden, the new D-line coach for Nebraska football, who came over from the Chiefs, is still looking for his first recruiting win.

Bradden has had to play catch-up this cycle. The results are partially based on that. However, Nebraska hasn’t given up hope of landing an elite pass rusher, or two, in this 2026 class, evidenced by the offer to Michigan commitment Julian Walker.

Walker, who was offered on Wednesday night by Nebraska football, is 6-foot-5, 252 pounds out of Irmo, South Carolina. He’s ranked No. 145 overall in the 2026 class, via the 247 Sports composite rankings, and would be a massive get.

However, flipping his commitment from Michigan feels like a long shot. Walker could take a Gameday visit to Nebraska, but it’s pretty late in the process. You can never say never, but it feels like Nebraska has a much better chance of flipping Syracuse commitment Kamron Wilson, a three-star prospect who will take a visit to Lincoln this fall.

Wilson is another talented EDGE. He had 17 sacks as a high school junior out of Miami, Florida. He’s 6-foot-5, 210 pounds, and ranked No. 472 overall.

There’s nothing wrong with swinging for the fences with Walker. Yet, Wilson is the recruit whom Nebraska has the most realistic chance to flip.
