Nebraska football nearly added a running back in the spring transfer portal window. It didn’t, but still added another running back to the 2025 roster.

That’s because Isaiah Mozee has officially changed positions. Matt Rhule confirmed the switch on Tuesday at Big Ten Media Days. The Nebraka football head coach said that Mozee approached him about the move.

The Huskers updated their fall roster earlier this week for the 2025 season, and Mozee, a four-star wide receiver recruit, is now listed as a 6-foot, 210-pound running back.

There had been talk about the move. Now, it’s not just talk. Mozee will join the fray with Emmett Johnson, Kwinten Ives, Mekhi Nelson, and Jamarion Parker, among others, at running back.

Mozee had over 3,200 yards receiving in high school. However, he also had 78 rushing attempts for 665 yards and 11 touchdowns. That’s more than 8.5 yards per attempt.

Whether it’s on kickoff returns, punt returns, rushing attempts, or throwing him the ball, Mozee feels ready to make an impact right away. He could even be a gadget player sort of like Jacory Barney was last season, just with a bigger role as a runner.

Mozee could also be a dangerous threat out of the backfield. Ives and Nelson deserve their chances. But Mozee approached coach Rhule about being a running back. The fact that Rhule approved the move tells you it’s not an experiment.

And who knows, maybe he’ll be the second or third running back Nebraska needs.
