Four-star quarterback TJ Lateef is one of the top players at the position in 2025 and Nebraska football is a ‘heavy favorite’ to land him.
Nebraska football knocked it out of the park with quarterback recruiting in 2024 and it looks like the Huskers are on track to land another extremely talented quarterback in 2025.
That quarterback is TJ Lateef. Nebraska football offered the four-star signal-caller out of California earlier this month, but already, they have taken over as the favorite according to Tom Loy of 247 Sports.
Lateef was offered by the entire offensive staff back on February 5th. New quarterbacks coach Glenn Thomas and offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield have been all over him and it’s paid off. Lateef has scheduled an official visit to see Nebraska football on April 26th, and Loy said he’s close to a crystal ball for the Huskers.
“I was very close to putting in a Crystal Ball in for TJ Lateef to Nebraska. He’s got the official visit set for April 26. I’m going to hold off because I’m just not 100%. What I am sure of is the fact that Nebraska leads, and that came directly from him. He said, ‘All of the coaches connect with me once a day. That’s the reason why they have an edge. It’s about how they communicate. They showed me a lot of love.’ Clearly, Matt Rhule and Marcus Satterfield are all doing a great job. They are separating from the pack. The only visit he’s got lined up is a trip to Lincoln in April. Ole Miss and Texas A&M are the other heavy hitters involved here.”
Lateef is ranked 257th overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, as well as 22nd among quarterbacks. Yet, 247 Sports ranks him 10th among QBs and 165th overall in their own rankings.
Texas A&M and Ole Miss aren’t schools to scoff at and they are the other top contenders.
Both tend to bring it in terms of NIL, but the Huskers have built that relationship with Lateef and the spring game will be a huge opportunity to take command of this recruitment.
