Sometimes, it feels like the Nebraska football program can’t catch a break.

Just a week after landing the commitment of defensive tackle Andy Burburija, the defensive tackle has now been projected to flip to Clemson by 247 Sports and Rivals.

It seems like something happened late that threw a wrench into things. According to a post by Sean Callanhan of Husker Online, there was an issue with him qualifying for school. It could have still happened, but there was more work to do.

At the same time, Clemson came in and offered more money. The Tigers hosted Burburija for a visit, too. He was also committed to Kansas State before the coaching change there.

What’s next for Nebraska football?

The good news is that Nebraska just landed 6-foot-1, 292-pound Owen Stoudmire, a defensive tackle from Boston College, who started three games last season before taking a redshirt year due to injury. Back in 2024, Stoudmire had 30 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.

Another defensive tackle, Oregon’s Terrance Green, is still on the board. He visited Alabama and Cal in recent days, but is still expected to visit Nebraska, according to Callahan.

Green is 6-foot-5, 330 pounds. It didn’t feel like landing him was that realistic. He’s ranked as the fourth-best defensive lineman available in the portal. No. 29 overall.

That would be a major addition. Even with more money available, after Burburija flips, it might not be enough to land one of the top players left at a premium position.

We’ll see what happens. Green would be an upgrade, according to the rankings, but he finished this season with just 15 tackles, one tackle for loss, in 15 games. He’s got 22 career tackles. Whereas Burburija, at the JUCO level, had 11.5 sacks last season.
