Nebraska football will hold its final week of fall camp this week. The Nebraska Cornhuskers are now just 12 days away from the season opener against UTEP and you can feel the excitement.
One of the reasons Nebraska football fans are so excited about the 2024 season is former five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola. Matt Rhule said that he will “probably” name a starting quarterback this week.
There’s no doubt that when Rhule does name a starter, it will be Raiola. The Nebraska football head coach said the Cornhuskers have “three quarterbacks they can win with.” He also said that Daniel Kaelin, is a future NFL QB, along with Raiola.
But Raiola is that dude and over the weekend, Tom Luginbill of ESPN published his preseason All-American team and the Nebraska Cornhuskers signal caller made the team as the quarterback.
That projects Raiola as being the best freshman quarterback in the country, which is a prediction I can certainly get behind. I also believe that he’ll win Big Ten Freshman of the Year on offense. We’ll see, but I can’t wait for that first game and the start of the Dylan Raiola era.
Nebraska football misses on 5-star offensive tackle
In case you missed it, Nebraska football was a finalist for five-star offensive tackle David Sanders, who announced his commitment to Tennessee on Saturday.
Sanders said that the Nebraska Cornhuskers were a “little late” to his recruitment. Raiola also helped get Nebraska in the mix, but Tennessee had a longer relationship. There are also reports that Tennessee dished out $1.6 in NIL money to make it happen, which is about what Raiola got to come to Nebraska.
Nebraska Cornhuskers get first win in women’s soccer
After a loss in their season-opening game against Oklahoma State, the sixth-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers bounced back at home on Sunday by a score of 3-2 over Colorado State.
All three Nebraska goals were scored by Sarah Weber, who was credited with a hat trick. She scored twice in the first half before adding another goal in the third.
The Rams tied the score after the Cornhuskers grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first half, but Weber scored the winner in the 71st minute, which was also her 35th career goal (1oth all-time in school history).
