It’s the final weekend of official visits before the dead period and for Nebraska football, it’s a critical weekend as some of its top targets are on campus.

One of them is in-state recruit Chase Loftin. The 6-foot-6, 215-pound tight end from Omaha, is ranked as the No. 2 player in the state of Nebraska for the 2025 class. He’s also ranked No. 375 overall.

Loftin has recently visited Texas A&M, Florida State, Kansas State, and Missouri. This weekend, he is back in Lincoln for another visit and it seems as though the Huskers have done enough to close.

Greg Young of On3.com put in an expert projection for the Huskers on Friday night and Bryan Munson of Husker Online followed suit on Saturday. Nebraska football now has an 87-percent chance to land Loftin’s commitment according to the On3 recruiting prediction machine.

One of the last visitors added this weekend was three-star athlete Jeremiah Jones. Jones is listed by On3.com as 6-foot-6. The 247 Sports profile on him has Jones at 6-foot-4. Regardless, he could play safety, wide receiver, or even tight end and was projected to the Huskers by Steve Wiltfong of On3.com.

Louisville is the other serious contender but Nebraska feels like the leader at this point, which makes sense for the Murray, Kentucky recruit fresh off his official visit to Lincoln.

The Huskers have a 75-percent chance to land his commitment. Last but not least, Ceyair Wright, a former top-100 cornerback and 11-game starter for USC is visiting this weekend and has been projected to Huskers. He would be added to the 2024 roster and is another player who can compete to start at the cornerback spot opposite Tommi Hill.
