Nebraska football needs to guard against a flip as Michigan is targeting one of its top 2026 commitments for a flip.

Nebraska football is targeting a few flips in the 2026 recruiting class, including a recruit who is currently committed to Michigan.

Yet, after the Wolverines lost a commitment from four-star cornerback Dorian Barney to Ole Miss over the weekend, Michigan is now returning the favor, attempting to flip Nebraska football commitment Danny Odem, who is the second-highest-rated pledge in the Huskers’ 2026 class.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound cornerback out of Orlando is one of the best man-to-man cover guys in the entire 2026 class. 247 Sports has Odem ranked among the top 100 players in its rankings for 2026, and among the top-10 cornerbacks.

Michigan has “momentum”

Michigan secondary coach Lamar Morgan visited Odem during the bye week. The Wolverines have been in contact since July, but only made a move after Barney’s decommitment.

When it comes to flips, I always caution not to worry until another program gets the recruit on campus. However, according to Aiden Sen of Rivals, Odem is already working with Michigan to set up a visit for a game.

The fact that Michigan just beat Nebraska isn’t that big a deal. Recruits don’t make their college decisions based on what happened in one game. Fans think way too narrowly. Yet, Michigan has had many more players drafted into the NFL, even with a second-round cornerback as recent as last season.

In fact, the Wolverines have had a day one or day two defensive back in six of the last seven NFL drafts. That’s sure to be a selling point. Other programs have tried to poach Odem, but so far, they have been unsuccessful.

Now, Nebraska needs to play defense and get this commitment to signing day.
