Nebraska football is the favorite to land wideout Isaiah Neyor, plus more transfer portal visit updates.
The Nebraska football program was expected to host five transfer portal targets this week, but according to Sean Callahan of Husker Online, just four will make it to campus.
Two visits have already been completed. Wide receivers Isaiah Neyor and Jahmal Banks have already completed their visits. Neyor is being projected to commit to the Huskers by Callahan and Bryan Munson of Husker Online. He also canceled an expected visit to Miami, which is a good sign for Nebraska football.
With transfer visits, things can change quickly. Neyor is an example of a visit getting canceled. Nebraska has had a transfer visit canceled with linebacker Xe’Ree Alexander. The window was too narrow and the Huskers decided to move on according to Callahan.
Another interesting nugget in this update from Callahan is that he said he believes Nebraska would take Banks and Neyor. I wasn’t sure if there would be enough room — scholarship-wise — but the Huskers would be upgrading the room and adding some much-needed experience.
Banks has also visited Michigan, but if the Jim Harbaugh to the NFL saga drags out, or if J.J. McCarthy declares for the NFL draft, you’d think that would give Nebraska the leg up.
Former Syracuse linebacker Stefon Thompson is on campus. He would make a lot of sense with his previous ties to Tony White and now that Alexander is out of the picture, the Huskers have to make him a priority.
Speaking of transfer portal visitors, the most important — Dante Dowdell — is on campus. We’ll see if Nebraska can land the former four-star running back, but in my eyes, he’s the No. 1 priority. At the very least, it’s a good sign that he’s made it to Lincoln and this visit window closes this weekend, so it’s a good sign for Nebraska if they can knock it out of the park on the visit, which they usually do.
