Five-star athlete Michael Terry made it to Lincoln to visit Nebraska football multiple days this week, but the visit didn’t generate the same sort of buzz that the David Sanders (No. 2 overall) trip to Nebraska did last Friday.
Quarterback Dylan Raiola called out for Nebraska football fans to meet Sanders when he arrived in Lincoln and a few hundred Husker fans showed up.
Terry (No. 26 overall), who also thoroughly enjoyed his official visit during the spring, is considering Texas and Oregon, along with Nebraska football and Texas A&M. Terry said he wanted to take more visits to be sure about his decision, and although there isn’t a date, the five-star from Texas has said a decision is coming “soon.”
Here’s what Chad Simmons of On3.com wrote about Terry and his visit on Wednesday.
“Things would have to shift a little coming out of the visit to Lincoln for us to see the Cornhuskers the same way we see the Longhorns and Ducks in this race. Texas is the in-state school, and they are picking up some steam this summer. Oregon has been solid in this race for some time as well. Texas A&M was the early favorite but things have shifted toward the Longhorns when talking schools in the home state. Oregon looks to be the school outside Texas with the best shot at Williams.”
Update on Nebraska football 5-star target David Sanders
The update about David Sanders and Nebraska football also wasn’t great. Simmons said that he continues to hear more buzz about Tennessee from the Sanders camp than anyone else.
“You cannot sleep on Nebraska after a visit to Lincoln last weekend,” Simmons wrote. “But the buzz remains the same that Ohio State and Tennessee are battling at the top. Georgia is a distance fourth. There is a level of confidence in Lincoln, Columbus, and Knoxville, but Tennessee got the final visit from Sanders and his family and that is the school I hear the most about less than three weeks out from the decision.”
The good news is that Simmons says you can’t sleep on Nebraska. Tennessee feels like the team to beat and they did going into last weekend. My hope is that the Huskers were able to turn the tide on their visit.
We have 17 days to go. There haven’t been any crystal balls or major expert projections — even from Simmons or Steve Wiltfong — so don’t give up yet Nebraska football fans.
Anything can happen in recruiting.
