Nebraska football has been busy adding players from the transfer portal and added two more commitments over the weekend, including cornerback Jamir Conn on Sunday.

The Huskers also landed Marques Watson-Trent on Saturday who is the reigning Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year. However, Sean Callahan also reported that veteran quarterback Jalyn Gramstad will be back for another season with the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

The 6-foot quarterback who was the NAIA Player of the Year in 2023, served as a backup last season but saw limited action behind Dylan Raiola. Yet, a veteran backup is always important. Nebraska football did land Marcos Davila from Purdue in the transfer portal.

The Huskers also have four-star quarterback TJ Lattef coming in but relying on a true freshman and a redshirt freshman with no game experience as the backup would have been risky.

Heinrich Haarberg is back, but with Thomas Fidone now in the transfer portal (or the NFL draft) Haarberg will be needed at tight end and the return of Gramstad only cements his status as a tight end moving forward.

Nebraska women’s basketball gets a win

The women’s basketball team got back in the win column after road losses to No. 1 UCLA and No. 4 USC with a 72-61 win over Penn State on Sunday. Callin Hake led the way for Nebraska with 16 points and three 3-pointers. Alexis Markowski pitched in with a double-double (13 points, 10 rebounds). Britt Prince also had 13 points, four rebounds, and four assists, as well as three triples.

Nebraska is now 2-2 in the Big Ten and 11-4 overall. No. 21 Michigan State is up next on Wednesday at 7 PM CST on BIG+.

Nebraska wrestling falls to Northern Iowa in ranked dual

From Huskers.com: The No. 4 Nebraska wrestling team (5-1, 0-0 Big Ten) lost its first dual of the season on Sunday afternoon, falling to No. 10 Northern Iowa (4-0, 2-0 Big 12), 24-9. With seven ranked matchups, and only one bonus point bout, the road dual was a close scramble on the mat.

The Big Red claimed its nine team points on wins from #20 Jacob Van Dee, #5 Ridge Lovett, and #17 Lenny Pinto. Two Huskers lost their perfect records, and head coach Mark Manning remains on the hunt for his 300th dual win at Nebraska as the team heads into conference competition.
