Nebraska softball is one win away from advancing to the Super Regional of the NCAA tournament following a 14-1 triumph over SE Louisiana in five innings.

One day after becoming just the fourth player in college softball history to hit 20 home runs and have 20 wins as a starting pitcher, Bahl hit another home run on Saturday. Bahl finished 1-for-1 with three walks. She scored twice and had an RBI.

That was the 22nd home run of the season for Bahl, which ties a program record. The junior got her 24th win of the season after allowing one run on one hit with three strikeouts. Ava Kuszak pitched in with a grand slam home run.

Nebraska softball totaled 12 hits in the win. The Huskers scored seven in the third, five in the fourth, and took advantage of three SE Louisiana errors to win in just five innings, which is huge going into Sunday.

LSU, the 10th overall seed in the NCAA tournament and the host team, dropped its opener on Friday. The Tigers will have to win consecutive games on Saturday, then two more on Sunday, over Nebraska, to advance.

Whichever team advances to Sunday will have to beat the Huskers twice, which will be made more difficult by the fact that Bahl has only had to pitch six innings over the first two days.

That means Bahl shouldn’t have any restrictions on Sunday due to fatigue. She’s also a perfect 3-for-3 so far in the NCAA tournament with three home runs, with either a home run or a walk in each at-bat.
