Iowa QB situation looks abysmal compared to Nebraska football

Iowa wishes they had a quarterback like Nebraska football has in Dylan Raiola, who is expected to start as a true freshman.

Remember when Iowa fans had the audacity to mock the performance of Dylan Raiola in the Nebraska football spring game?

To refresh your memory, Raiola shined during the Nebraska football spring game. There were a few missed passes, sure, but the freshman completed 16-of-22 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns.

It was a stellar showing, but one that some Iowa fans mocked, which makes you wonder what they had to say about the performance of projected Iowa starting quarterback Cade McNamara on Saturday during the Hawkeyes open practice.

First, Iowa fans were ripping Nebraska football because they had more fans at their open practice (it was free). They were making fun of Husker fans for paying for and supporting (NIL) the program.

After watching some of the highlights, you can see why Iowa didn’t charge its fans. The Hawkeyes would have had to issue refunds after starting quarterback Cade McNamara completed 7-of-21 passes on Saturday for 20 yards (20!). He also threw a pick-six, fumbled a snap, and was sacked.

In other words, it was just a Tuesday for the Iowa offense.

Nebraska football, on the other hand, has Raiola, who has as much arm talent as any quarterback in the Big Ten. Yes, you have to give some credit to the Hawkeyes defense, but come on man, averaging fewer than one-yard-per-pass attempt — I didn’t even think that was possible.

Makes you wonder what Brian Ferentz is doing right now.
