Saturday’s game against Indiana is huge for Nebraska football. It’s huge for both teams, really, as Indiana is trying to prove that it’s for real with its 6-0 record and 16th overall ranking.
The Hoosiers have the second-best scoring offense in college football. They have also won every game by at least 14 points, including three wins over Big Ten teams.
Beating the Hoosiers won’t be easy. It will be even more difficult if Nebraska football is still without No. 1 cornerback Tommi Hill. The veteran has been working back from a foot injury, but has missed the last couple of games and hasn’t been healthy since before the Illinois game.
Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule said Hill would be a game-time decision. He also noted that kicker Tristan Alvano has been ruled out.
Florida State trying to flip a Nebraska football commitment
Jeremiah Jones is one of my favorite commitments for Nebraska football in the 2025 class, but the Huskers are going to have to work to keep him in the fold.
Some other programs have been sniffing around and the latest is Florida State. The Seminoles offered the 6-foot-4, 219-pound athlete this week out of Murray, Kentucky, and that was after he visited their campus a couple of times this summer.
Jones is ranked No. 559 overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, but he’s one of the most underrated players in Nebraska’s class — maybe the most underrated.
We have seen other programs flip players from Nebraska in the past, but with the way Florida State has struggled, maybe Nebraska football should be the one trying to poach 2025 commitments, such as Chase Loftin.
But Jones, just like Malcolm Simpson, is someone to keep an eye on as we get closer to Early National Signing Day.
Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team hits the road
Surprisingly, Pittsburgh held onto the No. 1 ranking despite a loss last week. News flash, SMU is for real and that’s a loss that the Nebraska volleyball doesn’t have to feel bad about.
The Mustangs are legit and the Huskers had a really bad night. At any rate, No. 2 Nebraska volleyball is 16-1 as it heads into back-to-back road matches against Michigan State on Friday and Ohio State on Saturday.
Not to overlook the Spartans or Buckeyes, however, they have a combined record of 1-11 in Big Ten matches. Nebraska volleyball should kill it — pun intended — and have no trouble notching a pair of road wins in Big Ten play.
Both matches can be streamed on BIG+.
