The Big Ten Network is taking its annual tour around the Big Ten and on Wednesday night, the episode featuring Nebraska football aired.

One thing I enjoy about the Big Ten Network is that the analysts are former coaches and players who competed in the league. They understand the game and that makes the analysis top-notch.

That’s why it’s notable that Howard Griffith, a long-time analyst for the Big Ten Network, said that the Nebraska football quarterback room was “really one of the best QB rooms I’ve seen on this tour.”

That tour is of Big Ten teams so it’s accurate to say he believes Nebraska football has one of the best quarterback rooms in the Big Ten conference.

How does the Nebraska football QB room stack up?

Oregon and Ohio State are two of the teams that might rank ahead of Nebraska but Will Howard left Kansas State for a reason — he wasn’t going to start.

The same can be said for Dillon Gabriel at Oregon. Oklahoma wanted another quarterback to play and that’s why Gabriel left. That doesn’t mean those guys aren’t good (they are). It’s just something to keep in mind and in terms of pure talent, I’d take Raiola over either every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

So would their head coaches. There isn’t even a comparison between Raiola and Will Howard in terms of spinning the ball. Penn State and Washington have talented veteran quarterbacks too, along with USC.

Aidan Chiles of Michigan State is talented. Drew Allar is too. But I’d bet that Raiola is drafted higher than any other quarterback currently in the Big Ten.

Add the starting experience of Heinrich Haarberg, another Elite 11 recruit in Daniel Kaelin, along with Raiola, and former NAIA standout Jalyn Gramstad, and it’s easy to see why Griffith concluded what he did.

The QB room is deep and talented and it all starts with Dylan Raiola.
