The injury report will be something to watch for Nebraska football over the next 24 hours as we lead up to kick off against Purdue.

Matt Rhule addressed the Nebraska football injury situation on his radio show on Wednesday night and the headline was that kicker John Hohl will be handling kicking duties again this week. Rhule said that Tristan Alvano will be out for a few weeks.

However, the injury report goes much deeper. Rhule said Nebraska football could have “a lot of game-time decisions” and it feels like one of those will be cornerback Tommi Hill who has been dealing with plantar fascia.

“Yeah, it’s a pain threshold thing. It’s a really, really painful injury. I just saw the other day that there was a guy in the NFL who’s out for like four weeks with it. Most guys would be out for four weeks. Tommi’s just battling through,” said Rhule. “He’s one that, you know, you kind of get to the game. If he can go? Great. If he can’t? Then, you know, Ceyair (Wright) proved that he’s a starting-level corner in the Big Ten.”

Rhule mentioned Ceyair Wright, who would likely start if Hill was out. The USC transfer had some solid moments against Purude and has started 11 games in his college career. Javin Wright and Blye Hill are among the others who could be game-time decisions for the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday.

Big Ten volleyball starts for Nebraska Cornhuskers

The second-ranked Nebraska volleyball team was dominant last week with a pair of sweeps over two top-five teams. The Nebraska Cornhuskers beat previous No. 2 Stanford at home, as well as fourth-ranked Louisville on the road.

The Huskers will be back at home this weekend and will open conference play with a double-dip against the new California schools. Nebraska volleyball will square off against UCLA on Friday night (7 PM CST) before hosting 20th-ranked USC on Sunday (6:30 PM CST). Both matches will be shown on the Big Ten Network.

UCLA is 6-3 and led by Cheridyn Leverette, a 6-foot outside hitter averaging 4.07 kills per set and hitting .325 this season. Anna Dodson, a 6-foot-5 middle blocker and honorable mention All-American last season, will be another player to watch tonight against the Huskers.

20th-ranked USC boasts former Nebraska Cornhusker Ally Batenhorst. The 6-foot-4 outside hitter is averaging 2.84 kills per set for the Trojans this season. Mia Tuaniga is also an All-American caliber setter for the Trojans who hit .221 and hold their opponents to .161. UCLA is hitting .279 and allowing teams to hit .179.

Nebraska’s suffocating defense should be a problem for both teams. The Cornhuskers attack also seems to be getting better and better. Merritt Beason, Harper Murray, and Andi Jackson have all been swinging incredibly well, but the entire team has been firing on all cylinders.

Now, the defense of the Big Ten championship begins.

Keisei Tominaga signs with Exhibit 10 contract

Keisei Tominaga has signed an exhibit-10 contract with the Indiana Pacers of the NBA. It’s a step below a two-way deal that would guarantee Keisei time in the NBA and the G-League this season but it’s still a good start for the former Nebraska Cornhuskers standout. Here’s more on what an Exhibit 10 contract is.

“An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year, minimum salary agreement that isn’t guaranteed. It can also include an optional bonus of up to $75,000 that will be rewarded if a player, after he’s waived, spends at least 60 days with a team’s G League affiliate.”
