Husker Big Red Daily: Nebraska offense should roll, Luke Lindenmeyer praise, and a key recruiting visitor

Nebraska football will aim for its second win of the season against Bowling Green on Saturday, a team that is also from the MAC like Ohio, but not the same caliber.

We offered up a first look at the Falcons, as we broke down the odds, and gave our early prediction for how Saturday will play out. The Huskers should be sharp.

The offense should be licking its chops, too. Bowling Green allowed more than seven yards per carry on the ground last week. They allowed FCS Tarelton State to roll up 464 yards of total offense. Just imagine what Anthony Colandrea and Jamal Rule will do this week.

Matt Rhule also challenged the offensive line to play better, which I think they will. That should mean some big running lands for Rule, Nelson, and Isaiah Mozee, who also had a 24-yard run against Ohio. All three running backs had at least one 20-yard run.

Underrated tight end production for Nebraska football

Luke Lindenmeyer had a whale of a game Saturday. You just wouldn’t know it if you only looked at the box score. While the former walk-on, now starting tight end, caught two passes for 22 yards, he was also an effective blocker.

You could see that with the naked eye on Saturday. But according to Matt Rhule, the film told an even better story as Lindenmeyer was credited with 18 knockdown blocks during the game. Dana Holgorsen said it was one of the best performances he has ever seen from a tight end. “Absolutely unbelievable,” is another way he described it.

So even if Lindenmeyer is only catching a few passes a game, don’t underestimate his impact on the offense. He was special on Saturday and deserves a tip of the cap for what could easily be an All-Big Ten caliber season after he earned an honorable mention a year ago, as long as the people voting are paying close enough attention.

Key 2027 recruiting will visit Nebraska

I’m not that worried about the commitment of Timi Aliu, following a recent visit to Florida State. However, it will be good to get him on campus and around other commitments, such as Trae Taylor.

Aliu is scheduled to visit for the Bowling Green game. He’s one of the commits of Nebraska’s that is being targeted for a flip. Getting him back on campus can stem the tide of momentum any other program has built, so this is a positive for the Huskers and O-line coach Geep Wade.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Aliu officially shut down his recruitment after this visit, although Tay Ellis did that, then decommitted a few month later.
