3 candidates to be Nebraska Football’s next commitment

We take a look at the three best candidates to be the next commitment for Nebraska football recruiting.

It’s already been a good week for Nebraska football recruiting with the commitment of Preston Taumua on Monday. That was a massive get for Donovan Raiola and the Huskers.

Whether Taumua is an offensive tackle or a guard, he’s got elite ability. He’s a big man that can move and is really physical. He looks like a right tackle to me.

But it’s the biggest recruiting win for Raiola, who is putting together another really solid offensive line class. Nebraska football might not be done with adding offensive line commitments either.

The Huskers don’t have any targets with a commitment date as of right now, so it seems like a good time to evaluate three candidates to be Nebraska football’s next commitment.

3-star CB Amare Sanders

The 6-foot-1 cornerback from Gulliver Prep in Miami, Florida seems like a good place to start. He’s gotten two crystal ball projections for Nebraska football recently. The Huskers are also the leader according to the On3 prediction machine which gives Nebraska a 98-percent chance to land his commitment.

I’m expecting it to come sometime before the start of the 2024 high school season. You wonder how Caleb Benning could impact things here and if a visit from Benning at the end of July would change things.

It seems clear that Nebraska football wants at least one more defensive back. It could be Sanders or Benning, who is also an offensive player too.

The insiders are projecting Sanders to Nebraska football and there’s a good chance he’s the next commitment for the Huskers.

4-star offensive tackle Grant Brix

Brandon Baker has been talking about taking an official visit to Nebraska football this fall. But four-star tackle Grant Brix, the No. 5 tackle overall in the 2024 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, has already visited Nebraska.

The On3 prediction machine actually favors the Huskers right now in this recruitment. Kansas State has the only crystal ball projection right now for Brix and it’s from a K-State insider.

National experts like Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons of On3.com haven’t really weighed in yet. We don’t know when Brix is going to decide and Notre Dame is coming on as a threat. The Irish are trending for another top-100 offensive tackle too so who knows if that will have anything to do with Brix.

If Raiola could land him, Husker fans would have to drop their criticism about his recruiting ability, because that would be an elite offensive line haul. It’s already pretty damn good already.

4-star linebacker Christian Jones (2025)

Nebraska football has gotten multiple crystal ball projections to land Jones, the top in-state recruit for 2025, from Steve Wiltfong and also Brian Christopherson.

Those are two guys I trust. Wiltfong will change his pick if another team grabs the lead. But there’s a reason Nebraska football has surged into the lead.

The Huskers have landed Tyson Terry and Caden VerMass. In-state momentum is palpable and it’s not crazy to think Jones could commit sooner or later. Lots of elite 2025 prospects are making their announcements and with the recent crystal balls, it seems possible.
