Here’s the latest Nebraska football transfer portal activity.

Friday 1/16

Green didn’t end up visiting. He could visit this weekend, but he’s taken trips to Alabama and Cal. That opened the door for Stoudmire to commit. The former Boston College defensive tackle did that after starting three games last season for the Eagles. Then, he got hurt and redshirted.

Back in 2024, the 6-foot-1, 292-pound defensive tackle had 30 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. That’s the player Nebraska football has to hope its getting. He’s ranked as a three-star transfer (No. 103 DL).

Wednesday 1/14

The Huskers are still working to add a defensive lineman to their transfer portal haul. Terrance Green, a 6-foot-5, 330-pounder who played for Oregon last season, with 15 tackles and one tackle for loss, will visit, according to Sean Callahan of Husker Online. He would have two seasons left to play. Boston College defensive tackle Owen Stoudmire will also visit. He’s 6-foot-1, 292 pounds with 53 career tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. He also has two seasons of eligibility.

Tuesday 1/13

Nebraska football has landed another offensive lineman from the transfer portal. Paul Mubenga, who is 6-foot-5, 317 pounds, and started 11 games over the past two seasons for LSU, committed to the Huskers, giving three O-line commitments to Nebraska with double-digit starters, two from the SEC, and three-year Iowa State starter Brendan Black.

Husker fans wanted Matt Rhule to address the trenches. He did that. Geep Wade seems like a home-run hire based on the early returns. We’ll see about D-line coach Corey Brown, but so far, so good.

Monday 1/12

Jahsear Whittington, the No. 33-ranked D-lineman available in the transfer portal via 247 Sports, at 6-foot-4, 270 pounds, has committed to Nebraska football. He’s the second D-line addition in two days. He had 11 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and a sack as a redshirt freshman.

Dylan Parrott is also coming back.

Sunday 1/11

Burburjia and Daniel Kaelin have each committed to the Nebraska football program. In other news, Willis McGahee IV has pulled his name out of the portal and will return to the team.

The Huskers have landed another defensive back, Jasin Shiggs from Towson. He played in 24 games for Towson the past two seasons, with over 100 tackles in each. He’s got two years left to play for the Huskers.

Nebraska football has also been projected to land Iowa Western CC defensive tackle Andy Burburjia. He’s been a dominant player there and is ranked among the top 10 defensive tackles among JUCOs.

A commitment could be coming soon.

Saturday 1/10

Former FIU cornerback Victor Evans has committed to Nebraska. He had four pass breakups last season and 42 tackles. He’s 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, and will provide more depth in the cornerback room.

Former Nebraska QB Daniel Kaelin is also expected to rejoin the program for this upcoming season.

Friday 1/9

Another O-line visitor

Anthony Thompkins, a 6-foot-5, 300-pound offensive lineman who played over 400 snaps at left tackle for Baylor last season, is visiting Nebraska football on Friday, per Sean Callahan of Husker Online. Thompkins could be a swing tackle or maybe bump inside to left guard.

Either way, it’s clear that Matt Rhule is determined to upgrade the offensive line. He was committed to North Carolina earlier this week.

WR Commitment

Nebraska football has landed the commitment of former UCLA wide receiver Kwazi Gilmer. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound pass catcher has 880 receiving yards over the past two seasons. He caught 55 passes last season for the Bruins with over 500 yards receiving. Gilmer will have two seasons of eligibility, and he’s had at least one reception in 23 consecutive games.

Thursday update (1/8)

New EDGE commitment

Anthony Jones has committed to Nebraska. He will add some key depth to the pass rush. Over the past two seasons for UCLA and Michigan State he’s got 3.5 sacks and nine QB hurries. Jones also had 16 pressures last season, which led the Bruins.

More D-line Updates

6-4, 300-pound defensive tackle Tawfiq Thomas, who played for Colorado the past two seasons, and Louisville prior to that, is visiting Nebraska football today. He had 18 tackles for the Buffaloes in 2024, but played in just four games last season.

According to Inside Nebraska, Jeffery Manns II is another name to know. He’s 6-foot-3, 300 pounds. He’s another community college player but has offers from Wisconsin, Arizona State, and Minnesota.

Maryland defensive line Dillan Fonus (6-foot-4, 260) also had the Huskers on his radar. Another Maryland transfer, Sedrick Smith (6-foot-4, 315) is another name to watch.

Return specialist Kenneth Williams has entered the transfer portal, while Larry Tarver Jr. and Braylen Prude have removed their names, and will stick with Nebraska football. The Huskers are still waiting on two commitments, too.

Wednesday update (1/7)

Nebraska offered Iowa Western CC defensive tackle Andy Burburjia. The 6-foot-2, 290-pounder was a JUCO All-American. He will visit this weekend and was a highly productive player.

The Huskers are trending to land the commitment of former UCLA defensive lineman Anthony Jones. He would add a much-needed presence to the pass rush. He only has 3.5 sacks, but last season for UCLA, he had 16 pressures, including five against USC.

Nebraska is also expected to add wide receiver Kwazi Gilmer. He has two years left to play. The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder has a reception in 23 straight games. He started all 12 games for UCLA last season, and led the Bruins with 50 receptions for 535 yards. As a freshman, he caught 31 balls for 345.

According to Sean Callahan of Husker Online, the only things that Nebraska is waiting for is the public announcement. Callahan also wrote that six of Nebraska’s seven commitments have signed, including Anthony Colandrea.

Tuesday (1/6)

Dwayne McDougle commits

The San Diego State safety, who is 5-foot-11, 200 pounds will follow defensive coordinator Rob Aurich to Lincoln. He had 103 career tackles, six interceptions, and nine pass breakups with San Diego State and Idaho. He will have one season left to play.

Huskers land another QB commitment

This crazy game of musical chairs ends with Nebraska landing former UNLV/Virginia quarterback Anthony Colandrea, who led the Mountain West in passing yards last season with 3,421. He also had 23 touchdown passes. Prior to UNLV, he had 26 touchdown passes and 20 interceptions in two seasons at Virginia. He will have one season left to play.

Colandrea has 7,542 passing yards to go along with 1,151 rushing yards, including 649 rushing yards. He also rushed for 10 touchdowns this season.

Hopefuilly this commitment is a signing.

Nebraska lands an offensive tackle

Tree Babalade is someone that the Huskers were familiar with. He was coached by new run-game coordinator Lonnie Teasley for the past two seasons. He’s never been a full-time starter, but started the last five games at right tackle this past season. He also started nine games as a freshman. He’s 6-foot-5, 330 pounds, and should compete with Grant Brix for the right tackle job.

New QB targets emerge (1/6 AM)

Our Tuesday morning update is that three quarterbacks have emerged as possible targets for the Huskers. Here is more on each of them. Another offensive tackle prospect is off the board. Former Montana offensive tackle Colin Amick was supposed to visit Nebraska, but committed to Iowa State on Monday instead.

Kenny Minchey flips to Kentucky

Kentucky has reportedly flipped Kenny Minchey. You have to think the Wildcats offered a major bump in NIL money. Aidan Chiles and DJ Lagway are the most likely targets now.

Monday (1/5)

Nebraska has landed the commitment of Brendan Black, a former Iowa State guard. He’s got over 30 starts and has played thousands of college football snaps. He was the No. 3 interior offensive lineman available in the transfer portal.

A promising tackle from the FCS ranks will be visiting Nebraska football, according to Rivals.  Colin Amick is a 6-foot-6, 295-pound tackle from Montana. He played over 300 snaps this season as a redshirt freshman. He had a PFF pass protection grade of 71. He’s also visiting Iowa State and UCLA.

Owen Chambliss has committed. The former San Diego State linebacker, who had over 100 tackles and four sacks last season, will have two years left to play. He will obviously be a great fit for the defense he has played in for the past two seasons under Rob Aurich.

Sunday Update (1/4)

McDougle, Staley, and Chambliss are each visiting Nebraska on Sunday. That’s three former players under DC Rob Aurich from San Diego State. It feels like the Huskers should have a good chance of locking down their commitments.

Malcolm Alcorn-Crowder, the former Kansas State defensive lineman, is also visiting. The 6-foot-6, 305-pounder had 14 solo tackles this season, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. He would be a great fit at defensive tackle in the 4-2-5 scheme, and is ranked by 247 Sports as the 26th-best defensive lineman.

Houston-Kaahaaina Torres, a three-star signee from the 2025 class, who was viewed by some as the future starting center, entered the portal on Sunday. He was ranked No. 636 overall via the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Starting defensive end Keona Davis has entered the portal, too. Larry Tarver Jr., a backup defensive back, a former three-star, is also in the portal.

Michigan State defensive end Jalen Thompson (6-3, 260) has also been linked to Nebraska. He’s considering a visit. He had 20 pressures on 420 snaps (2.5 sacks) this season. Bryce Butler, a 6-foot-5, 320-pound defensive lineman from Washington, will also visit, according to Husker Online.  He had 19 tackles, two sacks, and 14 pressures this season in 305 snaps.

Makai Shahid, a 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back from Youngstown State, is also planning a visit. He’s got 119 tackles and an interception combined over the past two seasons.

Saturday update (1/3)

Nebraska will host UCF defensive tackle Horace Lockett for a visit, along with Oregon State linebacker Dexter Foster (6-3, 236, 63 tackles), and Kwazi Gilmer, a former UCLA wideout who caught 50 passes this past season for 535 yards and four touchdowns. He’s got 88 receptions for 880 yards the past two seasons. He’s 6-foot-2, 190 pounds with two years left of eligibility.

UCLA defensive end Anthony Jones, a 6-foot-5, 265-pounder who has 58 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and 10 quarterback hurries over his four-year career, will visit Nebraska, too. He produced 16 QB pressures last season, including five against USC.

The Huskers are also hosting a trio of offensive linemen, Husker Online reports, beyond Brendan Black. Malachi Breland (6-6, 340, Memphis), Tree Babalade (6-3, 330, South Carolina), and Markell Samuel from Oklahoma State will each visit.

Babalade has started 15 games, including five last season at right tackle for South Carolina. He’s got two years of eligibility, and with Lonnie Teasley on staff, the former O-line coach at South Carolina, Nebraska football should have a good shot.

In other news, San Diego State EDGE Ryan Henderson, who had seven sacks last season, will visit. Defensive back Dwayne McDougle will visit, too. He’s one of four Aztecs Nebraska is expected to host.

Friday update (1/2)

Brendan Black (6-4, 320), a three-year starter for Iowa State, visited Nebraska football on Friday and will continue that on Saturday. He will also visit South Carolina. This would be a key addition to the offensive line with both guards out of eligibility.

San Diego State linebacker Owen Chambliss, an All-Mountain West performer, will also visit. He played for new defensive coordinator Rob Aurich this season, being credited with 68 tackles and four sacks. It feels like Nebraska is the team to beat.

Veteran defensive back Bryce Anderson, a former top-100 recruit for Texas A&M, is another player of interest. He’s got 117 career tackles, six pass breakups, and two interceptions. Nebraska is one of the schools in contact.

Chambliss won’t be the only San Diego State defender to visit. Safety Daleseaon Staley, who had 76 tackles for San Diego State last season and 136 over the past two seasons, will visit Nebraska and Missouri. Former Iowa State linebacker Will Hawthorne, a 2025 recruit of the Huskers, will visit after leaving Iowa State.

Kenny Minchey will visit Jan. 7-8. He has a “do not contact” tag in the portal, which means he likely knows his destination already.
