The impact of Nebraska football quarterback Dylan Raiola has already been felt on the field. Now, we are going to see the impact on the recruiting trail.

We have already. Raiola is the reason that Nebraska was a finalist for five-star offensive tackle David Sanders. Raiola also has Nebraska in the mix for some other elite prospects in this cycle too.

Matt Rhule deserves his fair share of credit. I didn’t even realize how good he was as a recruiter. I knew he was a good coach, but he’s relentless on the trail. He also makes smart decisions, is honest, and knows how to prioritize people.

Rhule also doesn’t give up on recruits. Two committed recruits in the 2025 class — Dawson Merritt and Cortez Mills will visit this weekend.

That’s in addition to the top-ranked recruit in Nebraska, Christian Jones. Five-star wideout Michael Terry is also visiting and last but not least, five-star Jackson Cantwell confirmed on X that he’ll visit Nebraska football for the Colorado game too.

Blue-chip QBs visiting Nebraska football too

Nebraska also has four 2026 quarterbacks scheduled to visit. Dayton Raiola is among them and so is West Virginia commitment Brodie McWhorter. The four-star QB in the 2026 class has been committed to West Virginia since June.

Clayton has the Huskers in his top 8. Raiola still feels like the most likely QB commitment in the 2026 class for Nebraska football but we’ll see if the Huskers can build momentum with Clayton or McWhorter.

Yet, with two five-star recruits, a number of top-100 prospects, and even more blue-chip recruits coming, this weekend is a huge opportunity for Nebraska football.

That’s why beating Colorado is extremely important.
