Nebraska football released its first depth chart of the 2025 season on Friday, although it’s clear there is still plenty to be sorted out, especially along the offensive line.

Maybe the biggest surprise is that Elijah Pritchett, one of Nebraska’s major transfer portal additions this offseason, isn’t listed as a starter. Technically, via the depth chart released by the Huskers, he’s third string this week behind Gunnar Gottula and Turner Corcoran.

There could be some off-field issues there. Matt Rhule hasn’t said anything, but there have been whispers. Either way, the Nebraska football career of Pritchett isn’t off to a great start.

Teddy Prochazka, who missed all of last season due to an injury, has returned to the starting lineup. Prochazka was listed atop the right tackle depth chart with an or along the name of Tyler Knaak. I presume that to mean both players will see the field against the Bearcats next week, just like at right tackle.

Another surprise is that TJ Lateef has won the backup quarterback job. Lateef, a former Elite 11 quarterback, signed as a four-star recruit with Nebraska football in the 2025 class. Mekhi Nelson is the No. 2 running back, which isn’t a big surprise.

Kyle Cunanan and John Hohl were listed as the starting kicker, with the “or” too. Williams Nwaneri and Cameron Lenhardt were listed as one defensive end with the “or” designation. Elijah Jeudy is the nose tackle, but Riley Van Poppel will certainly play plenty.

Keona Davis is also listed as a starter. Vincent Shavers and Marques Watson-Trent were each listed at linebacker, too. Andrew Marshall, the former Idaho cornerback, also locked down a starting job.

The Nebraska depth chart will be fluid. This is just one game, but it’s interesting, and what’s even better is that the season is now just six days away.
