Nebraska Cornhuskers

After a solid win over New Mexico on Thursday night in the Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City, Nebraska basketball will play another old Big 8 opponent Friday night in KC, Kansas State.

It might as well be the Big 12 tournament in the 1990s. For both teams, though, it’s an important game. Both squads are ranked in the top 50 of the KenPom rankings. Nebraska is 40th. Kansas State is 48th, so if the NET rankings are anything close to that, it would be a quadrant-1 win for both squads.

Both teams are better on the offensive end of the floor. Kansas State should cause some problems. They have some talented guards who are quick and good at getting to the bucket. The Wildcats shoot 60 percent on 2-point attempts, while shooting 45.7 percent from 3-point range (7th in college basketball).

The Wildcats also rank 244th or worse in 2-point percentage allowed (252nd) and 3-point percentage allowed (244th). Kansas State also struggles with turnovers, giving it away 15.3 times per game. The Huskers are a 1.5-point favorite. Tip-off is at 8:30 PM CST (Peacock).

Nebraska Cornhuskers clinch share of Big Ten volleyball title

The Nebraska volleyball team has swept the last two opponents, starting another streak, following a 3-0 win over Iowa on Thursday night (25-15, 25-21, 25-18), which clinched a share of the Big Ten title.

Wisconsin and Purdue each have three losses. So with three matches to go, Nebraska volleyball will get at least a share of the title. A win over Indiana (Saturday, 5 PM on BIG+) would clinch the title outright. It’s the third straight conference championship and the first Big Ten title for Dani Busboom-Kelly.

Harper Murray led the 27-0 Cornhuskers with 11 kills and six digs. Andi Jackson added 10 kills and three blocks, while Virginia Adriano had nine kills. Rebekah Allick had five kills and blocks, while Bergen Reilly managed 34 assists, seven digs, and four blocks.

Danny Odem upgraded to a five-star recruit

Nebraska had two decommitments this week, but in some positive news, Danny Odem, the top-ranked recruit for the Huskers in 2026, has been upgraded to a five-star prospect (31st overall) by 247 Sports.

Odem is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound cornerback. He shut down his recruitment recently after Ohio State and Michgan showed some interest. He’s ranked No. 122 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
