It’s been a good week for the Nebraska football program on the recruiting trail. The Huskers have landed one commitment — from three-star offensive tackle Rex Waterman; however, others should be joining soon.

Since the first official visit weekend, for the Huskers at least, Nebraska football has been trending with expert projections with a slew of 2026 targets: Tight end Luke Sorensen, offensive lineman Hayden Ainsworth, and also three-star EDGE Kamron Wilson.

Wilson is a Syracuse commitment who had 17 sacks last season in high school. He’s a highly-ranked three-star who has a good chance of being upgraded to a blue-chip recruit before he signs.

Yet, who will be the next to pull the trigger on a commitment?

It feels like three-star tight end Sorensen is the best bet. He just canceled an official visit and is expected to have any others before his June 20 commitment date.

The tight end is also considering Ole Miss and Penn State. The Nittany Lions had the crystal ball lead for the No. 675 overall prospect in the 2026 class, but Nebraska football turned the tide. I’d expect him to make the next commitment, although Ainsworth could be N at any time, too.

Nebraska football in-state recruit trending to Iowa

Nebraska has only offered three in-state recruits in the 2026 class. Jase Reynolds is a commitment. Isaac Jensen committed to Missouri, which leaves three-star cornerback Darion Jones on the board.

Jones is the younger brother of current Nebraska football player Donovan Jones. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound cornerback is ranked second in the state of Nebraska among 2026 recruits. He’s No. 493 overall; however, Iowa has been projected to land him by Derek Young of On3.com.

Nebraska has the crystal ball lead, and still leads via the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, yet the Huskers have work to do; it seems ahead of next weekend’s official visit.
