It’s amazing what a difference a week makes. Last week, Nebraska football fans were confident that the Huskers could beat Indiana.

I certainly was. Yes, I knew it was going to be a huge challenge. But there was a belief in Tony White’s defense, Matt Rhule, and frankly, Dylan Raiola.

Things didn’t go as planned though. Not only did Nebraska football lose, but the Huskers also got blown out. The 56-7 loss was the low point of the Rhule era. Now, it’s time to get off the mat.

The problem is that the Ohio State Buckeyes are up next. Ryan Day’s team is fresh off a last-second loss to Oregon and will be looking to bounce back. QB Will Howard has had a strong season and led by true freshman wideout Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State has even more skill-position talent than Indiana.

Ohio State has a better defense too. It feels like the Huskers are walking into a buzzsaw. Last week, I was prepared to believe this could be a competitive game. Now, I’m not so sure.

Nebraska football vs. Ohio State prediction

Just like the Huskers, I’m 5-2 this season picking against the spread. My two losses were Illinois and Indiana. I mistakenly picked Nebraska football to cover the spread in both games.

However, I won’t make that mistake this time. Ohio State is a juggernaut. Indiana is a good team but I don’t think the Hoosiers could beat the Buckeyes right now.

Ohio State has all the dudes on the outside, plus the quarterback, two elite running backs, one of the best secondaries in college football, and a stout defensive line.

I’m not sure how the Huskers will even move the ball after what we saw Saturday. And if Nash Hutmacher is out, Ohio State might run for 200 yards.

The pass rush was non-existent against Indiana. Hopefully, it finds its way off the milk carton this week, because sacks, turnovers, and stopping the run are the only chances Nebraska has.

Ohio State is too good though and as we saw last week, the Huskers aren’t close to being elite. Saturday’s game will be another reminder of that, even if it’s closer than the Indiana game.

Prediction: Ohio State 38, Nebraska 10
