One of the QB targets for Nebraska football is off the board, while Kyle McCord is on his way to Omaha according to a report.
We knew that Kyle McCord was going to visit Nebraska football this week and it sounds like the visit is happening sooner rather than later.
That’s because McCord, a former Ohio State starter and one of the top-ranked players in the transfer portal, is on his way to Omaha. We know this because Greg Smith of Rivals reported that McCord is on the same plane he is heading to Omaha, Nebraska.
It’s an interesting coincidence, but it’s also not surprising that McCord is on his way to Nebraska for his visit because transfer portal quarterbacks are flying off the board.
On Monday morning, Sam Leavitt, formerly of Michigan State, was the latest, announcing his intention to transfer to Arizona State. The Huskers were in the mix for the former Michigan State quarterback, but this could be another sign that things are trending in the right direction for McCord.
The 12-game starter for Ohio State last season threw 24 touchdown passes compared to just six interceptions. McCord is also a former five-star quarterback and passed for over 3,000 yards last season. One of his Ohio State wideouts, formerly, Julian Fleming, another former five-star, is also visiting Nebraska football this week.
We’ll see how it all plays out but with Blake Shapen and Leavitt off the board, plus Cameron Ward not considering Nebraska, the Huskers don’t have many other options. Will Howard could still be a possibility, but it would be better if they just got Kyle McCord to commit.
