Nebraska Football: Possible TE movement and a 2025 QB to visit again

Nebraska football

There are reports about Nebraska football hosting Alex Manske for another visit, plus the latest on Carter Nelson, and more.

Things are happening on the recruiting trail for Nebraska football. The pace of commitments has been furious this week and with the most important official visit weekend upcoming, more could be on the way.

The Huskers have been trending with expert projections for Isaiah McMorris and Dae’vonn Hall, as well as in-state defensive back Donovan Jones.

It feels more likely by the day that all three players will wind up as part of the Nebraska football 2024 recruiting class. Yet, in the world of recruiting, nothing is ever a done deal, sometimes not even after signing day.

But there are plenty of reasons to feel good about McMorris and Hall. Things haven’t felt like they were going all that well with Carter Nelson, especially after he received a crystal ball projection to Georgia. It was followed by a Futurecast change by Greg Smith. He previously projected Nelson to Nebraska but flipped to Georgia.

Around the same time, Nebraska football offered Michael Burt, an in-state tight end that was also offered by Iowa, Minnesota, and some other Big Ten schools.

The offer could have nothing to do with Nelson. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see the Huskers take three tight ends in the 2024 class. However, it felt like Burt was a backup plan of sorts in case Nelson did go to Georgia.

Michael Burt projected to Iowa and what it means

Well, after Burt was projected to Nebraska football by numerous recruiting experts, he’s now been projected to Iowa by analysts for 247 Sports and On3.com. Maybe Iowa did a really good job in this recruitment.

The Hawkeyes did offer first after all and they have a history of sending tight ends to the NFL draft. Burt is expected to decide on Thursday morning at 11 AM and it’s not looking good for the Huskers. But some could infer that Nebraska feels better about where it stands with Carter Nelson.

That’s sort of a leap and not based on anything solid. Nelson is expected to take an official visit and it looks like he was taking in a College World Series game with Daniel Kaelin, which certainly can’t hurt.

You don’t want to read too much into a recruit trending elsewhere. But the timing is interesting. The bottom line, we’ll have a better idea of where Nebraska football stands after this weekend.

Alex Manske to visit Nebraska again

In another important piece of news, Nebraska football is going to host three-star 2025 QB Alex Manske for another unofficial visit this weekend according to Sean Callahan of Husker Online.

This will be the third straight weekend that Manske has visited the Huskers. Stone Saunders was recently projected to Kentucky and that’s happened at the same time as Manske moving up the board.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound quarterback ranked 38th at his position by 247 Sports in 2025, has also been offered by Iowa recently and a number of other Big Ten programs.

It might seem early for a 2025 quarterback commitment but a bunch of other signal-callers in the class have already pledged, so if the Huskers like Manske they should try to close as soon as possible.

When it comes to quarterbacks, it seems you can’t land them soon enough, and with all the other big-time visitors on campus, it seems like a great time to push for a commitment.
