Nebraska football is set to have a couple games on a national television slate.  The Huskers will have two games on NBC as part of the 2023 schedule, per the Action Network’s Brett McMurphy. They will face Maryland on November 11 at 3:30 PM ET. They will then face Wisconsin on November 18 at 7:30 PM ET.

This will certainly give Nebraska football exposure on a national scale. On top of this, they will have two games with strong opponents. Nebraska has faced Maryland only two other times. The last time they did so was on November 23, 2019. They defeated Maryland by a 54-7 margin.

Nebraska Football also took on Maryland on November 19, 2016. They beat Maryland by a 28-7 margin that year.

Wisconsin will be an exciting game as well. This will be a matchup of two first-year head coaches. Luke Fickell will be nearing the end of his first season in Madison, while Matt Rhule will be closing the book on his first season in Lincoln.

The Nebraska-Wisconsin rivalry has been one-sided in recent years, as Wisconsin leads the overall rivalry by a 12-4 margin. Nebraska has not beat Wisconsin since the 2012 season, although they came close last season. The 15-14 victory was the smallest margin of victory for the Badgers in the rivalry all-time.

These two games will give Nebraska more chances to show what they are made of. Two additional games on national television could only be a positive thing for recruiting. These two games could also be statement games for the new Nebraska coaching staff, especially the Wisconsin game. A win over the Badgers would undoubtedly be a statement victory.

It will be fascinating to see where the programs will be at by the time these games take place. Hopefully for Nebraska football, these games mean something, and have implications, In regards to bowl games. It’s been a little bit since Nebraska football has played in late-season games that have postseason meaning.
