Nebraska Football: DL Cam Lenhardt impressing upperclassmen

The 2023 Nebraska football recruiting class could shape up to be an impressive one. Several freshmen have the chance to make an impact right away, and it appears that defensive lineman Cameron Lenhardt is making an impact early.

Lenhardt was perhaps one of Nebraska’s bigger recruits in the 2023 class. He was a high school All-American at IMG Academy. He spent two seasons of high school football at the famed Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey.

Now, he is looking to make an impact for Nebraska football. We saw a little bit of what he could do, when Nebraska had their Red-White game in April. He was able to record four tackles and a pass breakup in the game, and he gave Nebraska football fans a preview of what could be coming down the road.

Nebraska football defensive lineman Ty Robinson has been pleased with the freshman’s progress. Robinson had a decent season in his own right in 2022. He recorded 24 tackles and two sacks on the season. He emerged as a solid player for Nebraska football on the line, especially in the later parts of the season.

Now, Nebraska football has another key piece in the freshman Lenhardt. Robinson spoke to the media on Monday afternoon, and talked about his first impressions of Lenhardt.

This is certainly encouraging to hear, as Nebraska may need Lenhardt to play right away. There were certain recruits in the 2023 class that were brought into the program to make an immediate impact. The freshman was one of them. His quickness and agility, as well as his tenacity in getting after quarterbacks, makes him a prime candidate to have an immediate impact.

Lenhardt’s development will be important for a defensive line that has desperately needed depth for years. The fact that he is a freshman, meaning that Nebraska football can develop him for the future, is extremely important as well. Stability and consistency at the position are going to be important if the program wants to succeed. Lenhardt will undoubtedly be a big part of that.
