Nebraska Football smartly making Kansas, Missouri priority areas

The Nebraska football coaching staff has definitely identified areas they want to recruit. Florida and Texas are two of them, and Nebraska fans are already seeing a Texas flare in the program. However, they want to establish another area as well: Missouri and Kansas

We are seeing a bit of those area’s influence in future classes and recruiting. For example, 2024 five-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo is from St. Louis. He is going to visit Nebraska on March 25. A Missouri wide receiver Jaidyn Doss is already on the roster, and was recruited by Bill Busch and Mickey Joseph when they were here.

Andrew Sprague and Michael Boganowski are two other players from that area. Sprague is from Missouri while Boganowski is from Kansas. They play offensive tackle and linebacker respectively, and are scheduled to visit during the weekend at the end of March.

Busch and Joseph made Missouri a priority recruiting area while they were with the program. They did a solid job of exploring the state on the surface level. Now, it appears the current staff is picking up the slack.

Linebackers coach Rob Dvoracek talked about Nebraska football’s goal to establish more connections in the Kansas City and Missouri area. Matt Rhule, EJ Barthel, and Evan Cooper hosted a Kansas City football Association Coaches Clinic last week. This is significant because they are trying to firmly establish their roots in the area.

It’s an area that was not often explored by the Scott Frost coaching staff, and it’s an area that has a ton of talent.  We have seen wide receivers come out of the area recently, including Doss and Wingo. It’s an area that Nebraska football is right to explore, as talent in that area is exploding. Dvoracek talked about this, as noted in a report from Michael Bruntz of Husker247.

“Coach Rhule is really involved in recruiting in general,” Dvoracek said. “When we got here, it was a priority to recruit the state of Kansas and the State of Missouri, so he is doing what he says and making that a priority for him,” Dvoracek said. “It was an awesome event. We had a chance to talk football and meet a bunch of good people. (Rhule’s) just following what he said he’s going to do. That’s who he is and that’s who we are. We want a footprint in those areas and we’re doing our best to communicate with those coaches and go to events and invite people to our clinics and camps.”

It’s encouraging to see the Nebraska football coaching staff take that area seriously. It’s a step in the right direction, and another area where Nebraska football could find some gems. This just shows how serious the current coaching staff is in recruiting, as well as their commitment to getting the most out of certain areas.
