Nebraska football will be featured on Big Noon Kickoff this week for the Cornhuskers matchup against Indiana, which according to the Coaches Poll, will be a top-25 matchup.
After a 5-1 start to the season and a bye week last week, Nebraska football moved back into the top 25 for the first time since the loss to Illinois at No. 25 in the coaches poll. The Cornhuskers are ranked two spots outside of the AP poll. Indiana is ranked 16th in the AP poll and 18th in the Coaches poll.
So either way, Nebraska football will have a chance to earn a sixth win for bowl eligibility. The Huskers can also end their eight-year losing streak against ranked teams.
It won’t be easy though. Indiana is 6-0 for a reason and while their schedule hasn’t been overly challenging, the Hoosiers have won all six games by at least 14 points.
Nebraska basketball scrimmage highlights
The Nebraska men’s basketball team held a scrimmage at the BOB on Sunday and the Red team emerged victorious with a 66-50 win. Brice Williams scored 18 points to lead the Red team. Transfer Connor Essegian was the high-scorer for the White team with 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting from 3-point range.
Another transfer, Berke Buyuktuncel, was solid in his debut for the Nebraska Cornhuskers with 13 points — seven in the second half — and 13 rebounds for a double-double. Rollie Worster also had five points, four rebounds, and nine assists.
Nebraska has an exhibition on Oct. 27 against Grand Valley State before opening the 2024-25 season against Texas Rio-Grand Valley on Nov. 4.
Where Nebraska basketball ranks in first Kenpom
Hoops season is right around the corner and that means it’s time for the return of the Kenpom rankings. The first batch was released over the weekend and Nebraska baskeball checked in at No. 56.
That’s 13th among Big Ten teams. Kenpom rates the Cornhuskers as the No. 62 adjusted offense and the No. 48 adjusted defense.
Speaking of projections, Joe Lundari has already projected the field of 68 for the 2025 NCAA tournament. He’s got the Cornhuskers as the “first team out.”
So the experts believe the Huskers are a borderline NCAA tournament team, which is an assessment I disagree with. But with the losses of Rienk Mast (injury) and Keisei Tominanga (NBA), it’s understandable.
