It’s been a busy week for Nebraska football as recruiting news and rankings have dominated the headlines. It’s been up-and-down month for recruiting, with Nebraska football hitting a bit of a slide on the recruiting trail as of late.

Nebraska football commit TJ Lateef raised eyebrows with some of his latest comments. In the meantime, Nebraska also had a bit of a struggle in the virtual world, as they were left off a video game rankings list. Although Tuesday did not necessarily provide hard-hitting news, it did provide some noteworthy nuggets. We take a look at all of these things in our daily roundup.

TJ Lateef raises eyebrows

Nebraska football commit TJ Lateef raised some eyebrows last night in an interview with Tom Loy. He was asked of his recruitment was still open, and said “I won’t speak on that.”

This response understandably caused panic for many Nebraska football fans. However, this could just simply be an indication that he is getting offers from other places. This is the new world of recruiting, and I wouldn’t worry too much about it until fall. It’s certainly not the ideal answer that fans want to hear, but it’s far too early to be worried about anything yet.

Nebraska gets snubbed in NCAA video game rankings

Memorial Stadium was left off of the toughest places to play rankings by EA Sports, with the new college football video game set to come out soon. Kyle Field at Texas A&M tops the list, while Davis Wade Stadium bookends the list at 25th overall.

This seems like a bit of a slight to Nebraska football and its fans. The fans still show up in droves, despite Nebraska not having a winning season since 2016. Memorial Stadium still remains one of the top venues in college football, with loyal Husker fans filling up the stands every single game.

Yes, it is only a video game. However, it’s hard not to feel like Memorial Stadium got slighted in this instance. We will have to wait and play the game to see how Stadium itself plays in terms of crowd noise. We feel as though Memorial Stadium should have been given more respect. Maybe, a good season will change EA Sports’ point of view.

Nebraska Football projected to miss out on OL recruit

Nebraska football also got some tough recruiting news over the last 24 hours as Tom Loy put in a prediction for 2025 four-star offensive lineman Seuseu Alofaituli. This is certainly notable, given that he was a Nebraska football target.

He took a visit to Nebraska football on June 14. His recruitment has extended far past this year for Nebraska, as he visited the program on October 28. He has been one of the program’s bigger line targets over the course of the last couple cycles. Now, it appears that he may be going in a different direction, although you can never tell in recruiting.

This is certainly a bit of disappointing news, but it shouldn’t be a surprise. He is a premier lineman. Until Nebraska starts winning, they will have difficulty landing a player of his caliber. When you recruit with the bigger programs, sometimes you will miss.
