Nebraska football fans are simple people. We want to see the Huskers win, we want to enjoy some corn, and we like to see some balloons released after the first home touchdown at Memorial Stadium.
Well, at least one of those things will come true on Saturday for Nebraska football fans. We don’t know about the win over Colorado but according to a statement released by the Nebraska Cornhuskers athletic department on Saturday, the balloons will return to Lincoln Memorial Stadium on Saturday.
The tradition, for years, was that fans would hold onto the balloons until the first Nebraska football touchdown and then they would be released at the same time, into the air.
It was a cool tradition. It was stopped during the Trev Alberts era and big shocker, now they are back under Troy Dannen, who also has Nebraska NIL humming in a way Alberts never wanted.
Turns out, Alberts’ departure was a net positive for Nebraska athletics and Nebraska football. It’s also hard not to laugh at Trev’s new school for losing a football game after having a pre-game interview with Ted Cruz, one of the two Senators from Texas, who was on hand for “good luck.”
Nebraska football injury updates
Matt Rhule updated some injuries for Nebraska football and said that the Huskers got a “positive update” with Javin Wright. There’s a chance he could return to the Cornhuskers this season which would be great for the defense and great for Wright, who was poised for a breakout season after battling with injuries during the first few years of his Nebraska football career.
Rhule also said he “feels good” about Tristan Alvano. The Nebraska football head coach said Alvano will be the kicker going forward. John Hohl will handle kickoffs. Blye Hill and Henry Lutovsky will also be available for Nebraska football on Saturday against Colorado.
