Dylan Raiola deserves more credit nationally for how he’s played so far this season.

Before the 2025 season, Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule said he thought that quarterback Dylan Raiola was one of the best players in college football.

It’s only been two games, but so far, Dylan Raiola is living up to the billing. The sophomore is averaging 303 yards per game. He also has six touchdown passes and is completing 78.1 percent of his passes.

Raiola threw two touchdown passes against Cincinnati with 243 passing yards and two touchdowns. Raiola was even better last week with 364 passing yards and four touchdowns. The opponent was only Akron, but Raiola made some incredible throws, especially the darts to Dane Key and Quinn Clark for touchdowns.

Before the season, Raiola didn’t get enough credit for his play last season. He only threw 13 touchdown passes, but passed for over 2,800 yards as a true freshman. After two games, he’s on pace for 3,642 passing yards in 12 regular-season games.

That would be a Nebraska football record. Rhule, on the Pat McAfee show, reiterated what he said this offseason about Raiola, the former five-star QB.

“He’s so underappreciated nationally. … [Dylan Raiola] is doing everything you’re going to do on Sundays. I think he’s one of the best players in the country,” Rhule said.

Analysts might not give Raiola the respect he deserves until he has a big performance against a team like Michigan, USC, or Penn State. However, NFL teams are surely taking notice. The arm looks better. He’s more accurate, in better shape, and making quicker decisions.

The arrow is pointing up for Raiola, just like it is for Nebraska football.
