Nebraska football head coach said there was”nothing I hate” about being 3-0 on Saturday night following a 34-3 win over Northern Iowa to wrap up non-conference play.  “I like being 3-0.”

Husker fans concur. Being 3-0 for the first time in eight years feels good. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long and also hard to believe how quickly we have adjusted our expectations.

Nebraska football ran into a pesky Northern Iowa team on Saturday, one that could have made that game much closer. The Blackshirts executed in the red zone on defense and also came up with a huge takeaway.

If not for that, this could have been a competitive game in the fourth quarter. Instead, we got another “boring” fourth quarter which Rhule said he doesn’t mind.

The Nebraska football head coach said he wants to get a lead, run the ball, and have people call Nebraska “boring” as it puts the game away by running the ball and playing defense. He said the Huskers didn’t do those things last season.

Winning never gets boring, especially when it has been so long. Yet, it does feel like the Huskers haven’t reached their ceiling. The defense was solid but allowed more than 100 yards rushing. They also allowed a total of eight third and fourth-down conversions.

Nebraska football left some points on the board too. But this team has two giveaways in three games and has rushed for more than 140 yards in each game this season.

That’s an effective strategy and if the Huskers can clean up the little things and keep being “boring” as Rhule said, they will win a lot of games this season.

Nebraska is already halfway to a bowl berth, but all of a sudden, making a bowl game isn’t a question mark. The goals and expectations are growing and that will continue as long as the Huskers keep winning.
