Nebraska football could go from zero defensive line signees in the 2026 recruiting class to two, as the Huskers are in a strong position to land 2026 EDGE Damaad Lewis.

The Florida State signee was released from his letter of intent recently, and according to Anna Adams of 247 Sports, the Huskers are one of the leading contenders to land his commitment.

Lewis is 6-foot-4, 245 pounds out of Fort Myers, Florida. He’s a three-star recruit who is ranked No. 464 overall in 2026, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Lewis actually took an official visit to Nebraska in October. The Huskers were one of the top contenders, but Florida State won out. Now, that the Noles aren’t in the mix, it feels like Nebraska is the favorite, although North Carolina State is another team to watch. Texas is in the mix, too.

Matt Rhule and new D-line coach Corey Brown were on the road to visit four-star defensive tackle Dylan Berymon on Thursday (6-2, 330), who just visited Nebraska. He’s ranked No. 199 overall. If the Huskers could land both, which seems realistic, that would be two top-500 D-line signees, which would make me feel much better about the 2026 class.

Considering what Nebraska added on the offensive line, and an immediate contributor in Danny Odem, the class would look much better in terms of quality, which is what the 2026 class has been all about from the beginning.

Braden Frager injury update ahead of key games for Huskers

Braden Frager, who is probably the frontrunner for Sixth Man of the Year in the Big Ten, got hurt at a really bad time for the Huskers. Nebraska basketball weathered the storm just fine against Washington, beating the Huskies by 10 with Frager only playing four minutes due to a sprained ankle.

Robin Washut of Husker Online, reported on Friday that even though Frager hasn’t been ruled out for the Minnesota game, he’s not going to play. He also wrote that the redshirt freshman will be “questionable at best” for the top-10 showdown in Ann Abror on Tuesday against Michigan, assuming Nebraska can get past Minnesota to improve to 20-0.
