Matt Rhule and the Nebraska football program are off to a strong start in the 2027 recruiting class with six commitments and a strong-looking board heading into the spring.

One of the recruits on the board is four-star defensive back Tavares Harrington, a 6-foot-3, 175-pound recruit out of the Chicago area.

Harrington is listed by Rivals as a safety. 247 Sports has him listed as a cornerback, but either way, he’s one of the best in the secondary in the 2027 class, and according to Steve Wiltfong of Rivals, the Huskers are one of the teams squarely in the mix.

Harrison has 41 offers total. Just about every major program is on the list: Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, Indiana, Michigan — basically most of the Big Ten and SEC teams. Notre Dame, too.

The Huskers have already landed the commitment of four-star quarterback Trae Taylor, who is from the Chicago area. Taylor has been an active recruiter, and it could help Nebraska football with the recruitment of Harrington, who has some visits scheduled.

Harrington has official visits scheduled with Georgia and Alabama. Wiltfong reported that one will be scheduled with Nebraska soon. There is also a three-day trip to Michigan in March.

“Coach Addison (Williams),” Harrington said via Wiltfong. “He’s a great coach. He stopped by my house for a home visit, and our relationship just continues to get stronger. They are doing great things over at Nebraska, and I can’t wait to get down there.”
