The offseason is underway for the Nebraska basketball team as not one, but two players entered the transfer portal on Monday, announcing their departure from the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Ramel Lloyd, a 6-foot-6 guard who spent two seasons with Nebraska basketball, but saw little playing time, was the first to announce. It’s disappointing it never worked out, but Lloyd could still have a bright future if he can stay healthy.

However, the second transfer on Monday, which was guard Eli Rice entering the transfer portal, caught Nebraska basketball fans off guard. Rice averaged 4.3 points per game for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and had some nice moments off the bench.

Yet, Rice didn’t see any playing time in the Big Ten tournament or the NCAA tournament. He saw action in 17 games this season. Fred Hoiberg said his “best basketball is ahead of him,” on Monday and we’ll see where he ends up because that basketball won’t be played at Nebraska.

With all the veterans who could return, it makes sense though. Rice was a promising talent and could have earned more minutes next season but if he wants to be a starter this season, Nebraska probably wasn’t the place.

Nebraska football to host 4-star RB who de-committed from Arkansas

We have talked about the recruitment of Jamarion Parker here before and on Monday, Nebraska football got some good news as the four-star running back finally decommitted from Arkansas.

You could see it coming. Parker was one of two Arkansas commitments to re-open their recruitments on Monday and it’s just natural when you have a lame-duck coach. That’s what Sam Pittman feels like right now. If he doesn’t win this season, he’s out and that’s not a great position to recruit from.

Parker is ranked No. 339 overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. The 6-foot, 185-pound running back out of Cardinal Ritter in St. Louis is the No. 28 running back. He also has an official visit scheduled for Nebraska football.

The Huskers are the only program hosting him for a visit, which is a good sign. You’d have to put them in the lead, although other programs are sure to come knocking.

A key mid-week matchup for Nebraska baseball

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have a critical non-conference matchup on the baseball diamond tonight as the Nebraska baseball team will travel to Kansas State to take on the 23rd-ranked Wildcats (6 PM CST, ESPN+).

Nebraska baseball probably should be ranked. The Huskers are 17-5 on the season. They have also won 13 of their last 15 games. Big Ten play opens this weekend, so this will be one of the last non-conference games of the season, although K-State will visit Nebraska baseball later in the season. The Huskers have also have games scheduled against Kansas and Creighton.

Tonight is a huge opportunity for Will Bolt’s team and if they win, they have got to be ranked next week.
