Nebraska football fans are waiting and hoping the Huskers will do enough to land former North Dakota State running back CharMar Brown.

Some fans have been worried that the Huskers will overpay. Others like how the running back room is constructed. However, Brown would be a clear upgrade. He was the FCS Freshman of the Year, rushing for just under 1,200 yards last season as the Bison won the FCS national title.

Emmett Johnson is dynamic. But he’s only 205 pounds. Can he handle the load of being a starting Big Ten running back? I think he can. But it’s still a question that needs to be answered. It also makes adding some insurance, as Brown would be, logical.

Brown is a 218-pound running back. He’s a bruiser, and he’s a different kind of runner. He’s much more Dante Dowdell than Emmett Johnson.

The Nebraska football target from Omaha visited Miami before making the trip to Nebraska on Thursday. Also, it might not mean anything, but after not posting anything on X about his visit to Miami, Brown posted a photo with head coach Matt Rhule, offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen, and running backs coach EJ Barthel.

Brown used the #GBR with a question mark. It could mean something. Yet, it could also mean nothing, but it feels like a sign that the visit went well. Now, can Nebraska football close?

We shall see.

Can Nebraska football close with Trae Taylor?

The No. 35 overall prospect in the 2027 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, Trae Taylor, will visit Nebraska football this weekend ahead of his scheduled May 1st commitment.

This visit was unexpected. Taylor announced it on social media Thursday, but soon after, Bryan Munson of Husker Online projected Taylor to be a Nebraska commitment.

That would be massive for the Huskers, and with the announcement less than a week away, the Huskers are in a great spot to land yet another blue-chip quarterback.

Nebraska Cornhuskers add basketball commitment from transfer portal

Fred Hoiberg struck again in the transfer portal on Thursday as the Cornhuskers landed former Tulsa forward Jared Garcia, according to Robin Washut of Husker Online.

Garcia is an interesting addition to the roster. He only played in 17 games last season, after recovering from an injury late in the 2023-24 season. In just 17.1 minutes per game, he scored 9.6 points and averaged 4.2 rebounds per game. He shot 56 percent on 2-point attempts.

Garcia isn’t a great 3-point shooter, at just 31 percent for his career, but in 2023-24, before the injury, he averaged 1.2 3-pointers per game (32.5 percent). The former JUCO prospect started 31 games for Tulsa in 2023-24, but has spent most of his career coming off the bench, which will likely be his role for Nebraska basketball next season.
