It’s going to be an interesting week for Nebraska football signee Carter Nelson plus Nebraska volleyball makes a major addition.

Nebraska football will have a few 2024 signees at the All-American Bowl this week, but many eyes are going to be projected future tight end Carter Nelson.

Nelson is a top-100 recruit and signed with Nebraska football on Early Signing Day. He’s also from an 8-man program in Ainsworth, Nebraska, so there’s going to be some adjustment. He played some tight end, but also played quarterback and running back quite a bit, as well as defense.

This will be a chance to see Nelson an in 11-on-11 setting against other elite recruits. It could give us an idea of just how ready he is to contribute next season for the Huskers. Matt Rhule has talked about having a positionless offense and Nelson could be the key to that as a guy who is 6-foot-5, 225 pounds, and runs a 4.5.

Rhule has even teased about using him at running back, so I’m excited to see what Nelson does this week at the American Bowl and I’m not alone. It’s one of the key focuses this week of the recruiting sites too.

Nebraska volleyball adds impacts outside hitter from transfer portal

The Huskers reached the national title match in 2023 but fell just short against Texas. Well, they are aiming for the national title in 2024 by making an impact addition from the transfer portal in former Minnesota outside hitter Taylor Landfair.

Landfair was the Big Ten Player of the Year in 2022. She was also an All-American. The 6-foot-5 outside hitter also considered Wisconsin and some other schools before choosing Nebraska.

According to Husker Online, the Huskers are getting a highly productive player: “At Minnesota, Landfair averaged 3.52 kills per set in her four seasons. She hit .244 overall with rates over .250 in her first three seasons. The redshirt junior recorded 3,020 kills, with over 1,000 in 2022 and 2023.”

Merritt Beason was a home run for the Huskers and Landfair could be the missing piece to a national title.
