Nebraska football offensive line could be better than expected

There are plenty of reasons for Nebraska football fans to be excited about the 2025 season. One of those, is the offensive line, even if some Husker fans don’t want to believe it.

Nebraska not only added two starting-caliber players from the transfer portal — Rocco Spindler and Elijah Pritchett — who each started double-digit games for Notre Dame and Alabama.

Beyond that, the Huskers have a slew of players with starting experience still on the roster. Justin Evans will shift over to center after starting every game at left guard last season. Those three positions are rock solid.

Pritchett should be the guy at left tackle. That’s why Nebraska likely paid north of $1 million to land him. He’s going to start. The same goes for Spindler, who will be the right guard.

That leaves the right tackle job, which was occupied by Bryce Benhart last season. Gunnar Gottula could be an option after starting nine games at left tackle in 2024, but it seems like Henry Lutovsky, the 6-foot-6, 320-pounder, who started 11 games at left guard, is emerging as an option.

Lutovsky has been limited this spring, along with some others on the offensive line, such as Gottula, Turner Corcoran, and Teddy Prochazka.

If Corcoran or Prochazka could stay healthy, they could factor into the offensive line depth chart, too. And actually, a starting five of Pritchett, Corcoran, Evans, Spindler, and Lutovsky sounds formidable. There is some decent depth, too, with guys like Grant Seagren, Grant Brix, Gibson Pyle, and Sam Sledge.

All offseason I’ve heard how Nebraska needs a better offensive line. Truth be told, it should be a strength of the team in 2025, and if that ends up being true, the Huskers could be much better than expected.
