Welcome to Husker Big Red Daily, your daily stop for the latest Nebraska football news, recruiting buzz, transfer portal updates, and Huskers headlines. Here’s a quick look at the latest storylines surrounding Nebraska athletics.

Facing what felt like a challenging road match against 15th-ranked Indiana, a team that hadn’t lost at home, the Nebraska volleyball team took care of business in three straight sets, sweeping the Hoosiers 25-15, 25-19, 25-19 on Thursday night.

It was a dominant performance from the top-ranked Huskers. They will come back home to Lincoln to face seventh-ranked Wisconsin on Saturday night in a critical Big Ten matchup.

The Huskers are aiming for their fourth consecutive Big Ten title. Here are three takeaways from the win over Indiana.

High-level offense

The regular-season winning streak is at 47 matches after Nebraska volleyball hit .379 with 46 kills in just three sets. Indiana hit .271. That was nearly .200 percentage points higher than most teams have hit against Nebraska volleyball this season.

Yet, the Huskers’ attack was so efficient it didn’t matter. Harper Murray hit .364 on 12 kills. Andi Jackson, the two-time Big Ten Player of the Week, hit .471 on nine kills. Manaia Ogbechie finished with eight kills and hit .500. This team truly has no shortage of weapons.

The non-hitters were elite

Olivia Mauch was spectacular. She doesn’t get the credit she deserves, but the libero had 10 digs, six assists, and three service aces.

Bergen Reilly managed 37 assists, seven digs, and three kills of her own. Her ability to keep the other team off guard with her sets is uncanny. Then again, she has so many weapons to choose from that she has to feel like a kid in a candy store.

Nebraska volleyball excels against the best

Six of the Huskers’ 16 wins this season have come against ranked opponents. That doesn’t count Spikes Under the Lights. Those were exhibition matches.

Still, six of the 16 wins have come against ranked opponents. Not only are the Huskers 6-0 against those teams, but they are a combined 18-1 in sets against them, only allowing North Carolina to get to a fourth set.

This team is playing as well as any in college volleyball. It has been impressive to watch. The next test is against Wisconsin, a team that is also fresh off a ranked win over Illinois.

Nebraska football aims for flips in 2027

The Huskers took their shot with Ahmad Hudson last week. There is still plenty of buzz that the five-star tight end will end up signing with LSU, but you never know.

That’s the attitude Nebraska fans should take with 5-star EDGE DJ Jacobs. The No. 3 prospect in the 2027 class is committed to Ohio State. His brother, Dawson Jacobs, a 2028 recruit, is visiting Nebraska, so both players will be on campus for a visit.

That makes it feel much less likely that the Huskers could flip the elite pass rusher, but again, you never know. Chance Archangel, a Texas A&M commitment in the 2027 class, could also be on campus for the Indiana game, according to Husker Online.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pound out of Louisiana is ranked No. 273 overall, according to Rivals. That seems like a more realistic option for a flip.
