Welcome to the Big Red Rundown, your daily stop for the latest Nebraska football news, recruiting buzz, transfer portal updates, and Huskers headlines. Here’s a quick look at the latest storylines surrounding Nebraska athletics.

Geep Wade is killing it for Nebraska football on the recruiting trail.

After the offensive line coach led the charge for two commitments last week, landing four-star Jordan Agbanoma (No. 80 overall) and KD Jones (No. 605 overall), it looks like Wade is close to landing another major commitment for the Huskers.

This time, it’s from four-star offensive tackle Timi Aliu.

Out of Locust Grove, Georgia, Aliu is 6-foot-4, 295 pounds. He’s ranked No. 252 overall in the 2027 class, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings. The blue-chip prospect has also been trending with expert projections to land with Nebraska football to the point that the Huskers now have a 94 percent chance. Florida is in second with two percent.

Aliu would be the fourth offensive line commitment in 2027 for the Huskers, with three of them coming from Georgia. Chad Simmons, Tim Verghese, and Bryan Munson have all projected the commitment. Aliu is supposed to take an official visit to Nebraska next month, but it feels like a decision could come before then.

Sometime this week wouldn’t be surprising.

Nebraska softball schedule for Women’s College World Series

After a 2-0 sweep of Oklahoma State to clinch the Huskers’ first berth in the Women’s College World Series in 13 years, that return will officially come on Thursday night, when Nebraska softball will play Arkansas at 8:30 CST on ESPN2 in Oklahoma City.

Arkansas is the fifth overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Razorbacks are 47-11. They knocked out 12th-seeded Duke in the Super Regional and boast a strong offense. The Hogs also have five straight run-rule victories. Tiana Bell, Dakota Kennedy, Ella McDowell, and Karlie Davison all have at least 50 RBI and double-digit home runs. They all bat well .300, too.

Payton Burnham leads Arkansas with a 1.9 ERA. She’s 14-3 with 18 starts. Robyn Herron has 22 starts, is 16-6, and has a 2.09 ERA. Oklahoma, the No.1 overall seed, was knocked out by Mississippi State. The other No. 1 seeds, Texas and Alabama, reached the WCWS along with UCLA, Texas Tech, and Tennessee.

The other first-round matchups are UCLA-Alabama, Texas -Tennessee, and Texas Tech-Mississippi State. Five SEC teams made it, along with two from the Big Ten and one from the Big 12.

Huskers earn a top-16 seed

The full NCAA Baseball Tournament bracket will be revealed on Monday, but Nebraska baseball did earn a host seed (top 16). Those were announced on Sunday, so one of Nebraska’s season-long goals has been achieved.
