Nebraska could be on commitment watch in 2027 class

It’s starting to feel like only a matter of time before Nebraska football locks up the commitment of three-star wide receiver Kaden Howard in the 2027 class.

We mentioned Howard last week as someone who was starting to trend to Nebraska. Tim Verghese, a Nebraska recruiting expert for Rivals, put in a projection for the Huskers to land the speedy wide receiver from Florida last week.

On Monday, more experts for 247 Sports and Rivals followed suit.

There was a crystal ball projection from Brian Dohn of 247 Sports. He’s been one of the top recruiting experts on the East Coast for years, so his crystal ball with a confidence level of 7/10 is one that carries some weight.

That’s the only crystal ball projection for Howard, who is 5-foot-10, 155 pounds, and ranked No. 797 overall in the 2027 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Chad Simmons and Greg Smith of Rivals have joined Verghese in making a projection for Howard to commit to Nebraska.

Why Nebraska football is on commitment watch

The Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Huskers a 99-percent chance to land the commitment of Howard, who runs the 100-meter dash in 10.78 and finished the 2025 season with 25 catches for 510 yards (20.4 YPC) and 7 TD. Also had 2 carries for 61 yards and 1 TD. Howard already has an official visit scheduled with Nebraska football this summer, as well as a visit later this week (March 7).

With the way things are trending, it feels like Howard might be committed by the end of the weekend. The timing of these expert projections doesn’t seem to be a coincidence.
