Welcome to Husker Big Red Daily, your daily stop for the latest Nebraska football news, recruiting buzz, transfer portal updates, and Huskers headlines. Here’s a quick look at the latest storylines surrounding Nebraska athletics.

Nebraska football has 18 commitments in the 2027 recruiting class, but is expected to add another on Tuesday, of the blue-chip variety.

Jailen Hill, a four-star cornerback ranked No. 294 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, has a commitment announcement scheduled for Thursday, and the Huskers have been trending as the favorite.

There have been multiple projections for Nebraska football to land Hill, the 6-foot-2, 170-pound cornerback out of Don Bosco Prep in California. Hill visited Lincoln this weekend and that seemed to lock down a commitment for the Big Red.

It would be the ninth four-star commitment in the 2027 class for the Huskers out of 19. Nebraska is currently ranked 16th in the 247 Sports team composite rankings.

Hill’s commitment would give the Huskers four blue-chips in the secondary alone with Hill, Bryce Williams, Tory Pittmann, and Corey Hadley. That’s quite the haul for Addison Williams.

2028 QB has “amazing” visit to Nebraska football

It’s never too early to talk about quarterback recruiting. Trae Taylor is the dude for 2027, but in 2028, the board is still developing, although three-star Jaxson Carper is a name to know.

Out of Ventura, California, Carper is ranked No, 366 overall via the 247 Sports composite rankings, and should eventually be a blue-chip prospect. He’s 6-foot-3, 160 pounds, with offers from Texas Tech, SMU, Virginia Tech, Arizona, Nebraska, and Iowa among Power-4 programs.

Carper came away impressed with QB coach Glenn Thomas, calling his visit to Nebraska “amazing”. We’ll see how much Nebraska wants to prioritize him moving forward, but it feels like someone to keep an eye on.

Two top-10 commitments for volleyball

Dani Busboom Kelly went on a heater on Monday, landing two elite prospects in the 2028 class. Shayla Rautennberg, a 6-foot-4 middle blocker from Milford, Nebraska, committed to the Huskers. She’s a legacy and ranked third overall in 2028 by PrepVolleyball.

The Huskers followed that up by landing 6-foot-1 setter Josalyn Samuels. She’s the sixth-ranked prospect by PrepVolleyball, as well as the second-best setter.
