The good news on the recruiting trail continued Sunday for Nebraska football, as they were able to land a pledge from 2024 linebacker Braylen Prude.

Prude is not ranked in the 247Sports Regular or composite rankings. He has gone a little bit under the radar, only holding two offers. Nebraska and Eastern Illinois both offered him. He was in Lincoln this weekend, as he took an official visit.

Prude is a fast and athletic linebacker who is not afraid to make plays on all sides of the field. He has good play recognition as well as good pursuit. This allows him to be always involved in a play. That is perhaps one of the most noticeable things about his game. In addition, he moves quickly downhill, which affords him the ability to be able to defend both the run and the pass.

He may be a bit of an underrated player, but he certainly has skill. With the athletes Nebraska football recruiting, there are certain characteristics that they seem to be looking for: Fast movers who can get to the football quickly and can pursue angles and downhill running. Prude can play both the linebacker and safety positions. This will give Nebraska football flexibility in the defense.

In that regard, he is the perfect fit for Nebraska football’s 3-3-5 scheme. His athleticism will allow him to be able to make an impact. This is a case of where ranking does not match overall ability. There is also the possibility that he gets a ranking now that he has committed to Nebraska. We have seen that with Brice Turner and Kwinten Ives.

This brings Nebraska football’s 2024 recruiting class to 10 commitments overall. They have five commitments from the state of Texas. That has been an area they have focused on.

Prude is a nice under-the-radar defender who should be able to make an impact in the Nebraska football defense. Nebraska has done well in recruiting in the month of June. With three commitments overall, they are continuing to put their stamp on the 2024 recruiting class this month. It will be exciting to see who else they land.
